Intel Apologises In China Over Xinjiang Statement.
Well, Intel has apologized to Chinese customers, partners, and the public after backlash over comments it made about China’s Xinjiang region. The U.S chipmakers had published a letter telling its suppliers not just to source products or labor from the region.
Beijing says the charges that have forced labor in Xinjiang are lies devised by America in order to destabilize China and hinder its development.
“We note the statement and hope the relevant company will respect facts and tell right from wrong. The people of Xinjiang are hardworking and brave and the quality of Xinjiang products is excellent. If the individual companies choose not to use them, it is their loss.” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
Intel apologized in its letter by saying, Intel’s commitment to avoid Xinjiang supply chains was an expression of compliance with US law, not a representation of its view on the issue.
It says, it respects the sensitivity of the issue in china adding that it is committed to becoming a trusted technology partner and accelerating joint development with China, where it employs more than 10,000 people.
Although it has apologized, Intel has not withdrawn its request to avoid sourcing its products from Xinjiang.
Intel is the latest international company to face pressure as it attempts to comply with Xinjiang’s sanctions while continuing to operate in China.
